The website editor shows a live preview on the left and an editing bar on the right. The controls change based on the page you have open. You can also ask Rocket Assistant questions about your site or tell it what you want to change. Open it from the speech-bubble button beside the editing bar, or use it in the Customer Portal. It can help with many editing tasks available for your account. Review its answers and changes, and use Chat with our team when you need more help.

Use the website editor header

The header is the bar at the top of the website editor. It includes these shortcuts:
  • Customer Portal opens the Portal for requests and other account tools. This button is available to admins.
  • Manage Users opens user management. This button is available to admins.
  • Touchscreen Instructions opens the current display setup guidance.
  • How To opens the Learn the CMS lessons.
Open Menu in the top-left corner for Site Settings, Media Library, Change History, Recently Deleted, and other tools available to your role. In a narrower browser window, a shortcut may show only its icon. Hover over it to see the label. The See what other people have built! Product Tour callout appears below the site preview while you are editing. Select it to open real Rocket site examples in a new tab. It does not appear in preview mode.

The four editing tabs

If you see Assistant chat instead of these tabs, click the speech-bubble button labeled Close AI Assistant. The editing bar returns without signing in again. You can reopen Assistant and continue your conversation whenever you need help. Open the exact homepage, folder, profile, record collection, or media item before choosing a tab.

Open the editing lessons

Select How To in the header to open Learn the CMS. It includes two video lessons:
  • The Basics covers folder creation and submitting content to Data Entry.
  • Advanced Features covers profile creation and editing in the website editor.
Choose either lesson directly or select Next lesson after The Basics. The video player includes captions, volume, playback, and fullscreen controls. The dialog may open automatically once after you sign in for a new browser session. Select Don’t show this automatically again to stop automatic openings for that user on that browser. You can still open the lessons from How To. This preference does not follow you to another browser or device. The original onboarding video is also available. It shows an earlier interface; use the instructions on this page for current controls.

Saving and previewing

Edits in the four page-specific editing tabs save automatically and appear in the live preview. General and SEO settings use Save changes. SEO stands for search engine optimization: settings that help search engines understand your site.

Save General or SEO settings

  1. Open Menu → Site Settings and select General or SEO.
  2. Change the intended setting. The bar at the bottom shows Unsaved changes.
  3. Select Save changes in that bar. It stays visible while you scroll through the settings.
  4. Wait for Changes saved before leaving.
If you see Save failed. Changes are still unsaved., stay on the page and retry saving. Leaving with unsaved settings opens a dialog where you can stay, save, or discard the changes. When closing or refreshing the browser, choose to stay if you still need to save. To confirm a change:
  1. Wait for the editing action to finish.
  2. Navigate away and back, or reload the public web page.
  3. Check that visitors can see the change and that the page looks right.
  4. Allow about 15 minutes for a physical touchscreen to show the update.

Return to the home screen after inactivity

Your site automatically returns to the homepage after a period without interaction. Auto-Redirect to Home After Inactivity controls the wait on both the physical touchscreen and the public site in a regular web browser.

Check or change the inactivity timer

  1. Open Menu → Site Settings → General.
  2. Find Auto-Redirect to Home After Inactivity. Check Minutes and Seconds for your site’s current setting.
  3. To change the wait, enter the minutes and seconds you want.
  4. Select Save changes and wait for Changes saved. Allow about 15 minutes for a physical touchscreen to receive the update.
The default is six minutes, but your site may have a different saved setting. Check these fields rather than assuming the default applies.

Test the return to home

Open a folder or profile on the public site while signed out, then leave it without touching the screen, moving the mouse, or using the keyboard. It should return to the homepage after approximately the configured time. Interaction restarts the wait. The automatic return does not run while you are signed in as an admin. Closing the editing panel does not sign you out. Some special display links also turn this feature off. If it does not return as expected, contact support@rocketalumnisolutions.com with the page link, the timer setting, and whether you tested while signed out. This setting returns visitors to the homepage; it does not erase content or control the separate homepage screensaver video.

Set content languages

Set the language of your text so screen readers pronounce it correctly. This does not translate the text; write the translated wording yourself. The website editor controls remain in English.

Set the site’s main language

  1. Open Menu → Site Settings → General.
  2. Choose Public Content Language.
  3. Select Save changes and wait for Changes saved.

Set a different language for any field

  1. In Menu → Site Settings → General, turn on Enable Content Language Overrides.
  2. Select Save changes and wait for Changes saved.
  3. Open the field you want to change:
    • Text field: open the page and select Text in the editing bar on the right.
    • Photo, video, or 3D model caption: select Media in the editing bar, open the media gallery, and select the caption pencil above the media item.
  4. Select the language button beside the field. Its label is Set language for, followed by the field’s name, such as Caption/Alt Text.
  5. In Content language, choose the language, then select Save language.
Each field can have its own language. In Easy Edit, use Set content language for the selected text. A caption’s language is saved with the media item, so it applies everywhere you use that item. Choose Inherit site language to use the site’s main language again. Turning off Enable Content Language Overrides keeps your saved choices but stops applying them to the public site. If the language button is missing, confirm that you saved Enable Content Language Overrides and opened the intended Text tab or caption editor. If it is still missing, contact support@rocketalumnisolutions.com with the page link, field name, and a screenshot.

See page visits and touchscreen clicks

Open Menu in the top-left corner of the website editor and select Site Settings → Site Analytics. Rocket opens the analytics page for the current site in the Customer Portal. Choose Past Day, Past Week, Past Month, Past 3 Months, Past 6 Months, or a calendar month. The dashboard shows:
  • Total interactions from views and clicks
  • Views and clicks split between touchscreen and non-touchscreen visits
  • Views by city
  • Top visited pages
Top Visited Pages always reflects the last 30 days, even when you select another date range. A section shows No data available when Rocket has no matching activity to display.

Add or manage content

Open Settings & Layouts in the right-side editing bar.
  • Add Content creates a folder or supported content type on the page currently open.
  • Bulk Edit is directly below Add Content when the current page and content type support it.
  • Drag-and-drop controls reorder supported folders and entries.
  • The eye icon hides unfinished content without deleting it.
Open the intended parent folder before selecting Add Content. The new item is created inside the page currently open.

Undo or recover a change

  • Use Change History from Menu to see who changed supported content and when, then undo an eligible change.
  • To restore deleted folders, profiles, and other content, open Menu in the top-left corner and select Recently Deleted. Find the item and select Restore. Items stay there for 30 days after deletion. After that window, or after permanent deletion, they are no longer available to restore. Recently Deleted is available to site admins.
  • Recently Deleted lists deleted folders as Folder and other deleted items, including whole galleries and records, as Profile.
  • Removing a photo or video from a gallery or profile does not delete the file, so it does not appear in Recently Deleted. The file stays in the Media Library. Add it back from there, or undo the change in Change History when it is eligible. Files deleted from the Media Library itself are restored from Recently Deleted in the Media Library.
Hidden and deleted are different. Hidden content stays in place for later publishing. Deleted content must be restored before it returns. If a folder and its contents were deleted together, restore the folder first. This also restores any items and subfolders that are still available to recover with it. For items deleted separately, restore the folders that contained them first so the items can return to their original location.

Why is my recovered profile in Restored Profiles?

If the original parent is missing or can no longer hold that content, a restored folder goes to the main folders page and a restored profile goes to Restored Profiles. Review the restored location and visibility before expecting visitors to see it. Move profiles out of Restored Profiles into the intended folder; that recovery folder is hidden from public folder navigation.

Quick editing shortcuts

  • Hover over editable text, titles, or images to reveal quick-edit controls.
  • Use the folder eye icon to prepare content without showing it publicly.
  • Changing a layout does not delete content. Review crops, titles, and cards after the layout changes.
If Auto Magic is available for the current content, it chooses a layout for you. Choose a specific layout when you want a particular appearance, then check the live preview.

Edit a long description or biography

Open the relevant profile or content item and use the Text tab’s Description field. Preserve readable paragraphs and use formatting supported by the editor.

Why pasted text looks different from the source document

Start with plain text and apply formatting supported by the editor.

If a control is missing or disabled

Make sure you have opened the page you want to change and the tab named in the instructions. Some controls appear only on certain pages or for people with editing access. If you still cannot find the control, email support@rocketalumnisolutions.com with the page link and a screenshot.
