Upload a video file, or add a link to a video hosted on YouTube, Vimeo, Dacast, or Hudl.

Upload video

To add a video file to a profile, select the profile’s Media tab and use Add Photos and Videos. Video files can be up to 350 MB in the website editor and Portal Media Library. See upload limits for other file types. If a video is larger than 350 MB:
  • Trim unnecessary footage.
  • Compress it while keeping text and faces clear.
  • Use a supported hosted-video link when appropriate.
Supported video services for individual content items include YouTube, Vimeo, Dacast, and Hudl. Test playback on the public site and the school network before a live event. You can put a YouTube, Vimeo, Dacast, or Hudl video link alongside the photos and videos already in a profile or photo gallery.
  1. Open the intended profile or photo gallery in the site editor.
  2. Select Images & Videos → Add Photos/Videos.
  3. Select Add external media.
  4. Paste the video’s link into External video URL, then select Add.
  5. Check that the video appears with the existing media. Open the public page and test playback on the school network.
Keep any existing photos and videos you still want. If Add Photos/Videos is missing on a Classic Dark profile, change its layout to Automagic, then return to the media controls. You can also ask Rocket Assistant to help with this. If chat cannot complete the addition, use the steps above or contact support.

Choose the image shown before a video plays

For an uploaded video, you can choose a thumbnail instead of showing the site background before playback. The thumbnail changes everywhere the same video is used.
  1. Open the profile’s Media tab, then Images & Videos → Add Photos/Videos.
  2. On the uploaded video, select Edit video thumbnail.
  3. Upload an image or select Choose from Media Library.
  4. Wait for Thumbnail saved, then close the window to check the preview.
Remove thumbnail restores the site’s default video preview. This control is for uploaded videos, not YouTube, Vimeo, Dacast, or Hudl links. If saving fails, select Retry saving thumbnail.

If video does not play

If video does not play, check that the file or link opens, the school network allows the video service, and the browser is not blocking videos from starting automatically.
