Use the highest-quality original you have. Avoid screenshots or images copied from documents when an original file is available. Looking for something else? See add videos, add 3D models, or manage the Media Library to organize, replace, download, or restore files.

Add a photo to a profile

  1. Open the target profile.
  2. Select the Media tab in the editing bar on the right.
  3. Use Main Photo / Headshot for the primary portrait.
  4. Use Add Photos and Videos for action shots or supporting media.
  5. Review the image on the profile and its folder card.
You can also ask Rocket Assistant to help with this.
  1. Open the first target profile and select the Media tab.
  2. Select Add Photos/Videos and choose the intended photos from the Media Library, or upload the originals.
  3. Review the gallery and keep any existing photos you still want.
  4. Repeat for each target profile, selecting the same Media Library photos.
Gallery photos are supporting media; adding them does not change Main Photo / Headshot. Check each profile so every intended photo appears on every intended profile. If Add Photos/Videos is missing because the profile uses Classic Dark, change the profile page layout to Automagic, then return to Media. You can also ask Rocket Assistant to help with this.

Change slideshow tab labels

You can give a folder’s slideshow image and video tabs your own names.
  1. Open the folder containing the slideshow content.
  2. Select Text → Slideshow Tab Labels in the editing bar on the right.
  3. Enter the labels under Slideshow Image Tab Name and Slideshow Video Tab Name.
  4. Open a slideshow from that folder and review its tab labels.
For labels written in another language, follow Set content languages. The same language controls apply to other text fields.

Add image descriptions for screen readers

Caption/Alt Text describes a photo for people who use a screen reader. Use a short description that explains what matters, such as “Girls’ basketball team holding the regional championship trophy.”
  1. In the website editor, open the page and select Images & Videos in the editing bar.
  2. Open the media gallery and select the caption pencil above the intended image.
  3. Enter Caption/Alt Text.
  4. Select Save.
Choose Decorative for an image that adds no information, such as a background flourish. Screen readers skip it. Unchecking Decorative brings back the caption text. The description and Decorative choice are shared wherever you use that media item. For a description in another language, see Set content languages. For missing-alt-text reminders on media thumbnails, open Menu → Site Settings → General, turn on Show Alt Text Warnings, then select Save changes.

Prepare source photos of class composites or plaques

  • Use JPEG or PNG.
  • Start with the highest-resolution original.
  • Keep names and important details inside the frame.
  • Hold the camera straight in front of the plaque or class photo, rather than at an angle.
  • Avoid glare and shadows so names and faces are clear.
  • Include a list of names if the people in the photo are not labeled.

Keep important words in editable text

If an image contains essential names, dates, or instructions, also type them into the page’s text fields. This makes them searchable and lets tools such as screen readers read them aloud. If a photo, video, or 3D model’s caption is written in a different language from the site, set the caption’s language.

Fix common image problems

Remove a photo’s background

Use this to separate a person or trophy from the surroundings in a photo.
  1. Open the photo’s page in the website editor and select Images & Videos.
  2. Open the media gallery for that photo.
  3. Select Edit image on the photo, then Remove background. This can take a minute.
  4. Check the preview, including the edges of the person or object.
  5. Select Save edited image to apply the result, or Cancel to leave the photo unchanged.

The image is blurry

The source may be too small, compressed, or cropped too tightly. Replace it with a higher-resolution original and check the crop again.

The image is sideways

Rotate the original image and save a corrected copy before uploading it again. Different apps may read the file’s saved rotation information differently.

The crop is wrong

Open the profile’s Media controls and use the available crop or positioning tool. Review both the full profile and its card. When the original file supports a transparent background, Rocket saves the cropped image as a PNG to keep those areas transparent. Cropping a JPEG keeps it as a JPEG. If a solid background appears, check that the original image really has transparent areas before cropping it again.

Prevent visitors from zooming or dragging photos

Turn on Prevent Photo Zoom to keep photos fitted in the full-size photo viewer. Visitors can still open and close photos, but cannot magnify or drag them in that viewer.
  1. In the site editor, open Menu → Site Settings → General.
  2. Turn on Prevent Photo Zoom.
  3. Select Save changes.
  4. Open a photo on the public site. Confirm that the zoom and reset buttons are gone and the photo stays fitted when you try to zoom or drag it.
The setting starts off and applies to this site. Turn it off and save to restore photo zoom and pan. Allow about 15 minutes for a physical touchscreen to update after the web view is correct. This controls the full-size photo viewer. It does not change browser or accessibility zoom, PDF or Flip Book controls, 3D models, or the homepage slideshow’s Background Slideshow Ken Burns movement.
