The Media Library stores photos, videos, PDFs, 3D models, and other supported files that you can use on more than one page. The website editor and the Customer Portal each have a Media Library with different controls. To add media to a page, see add and edit photos, add videos, or add 3D models.

Use the Media Library

Open Menu → Media Library at the top of the website editor. Organize files in folders by year, sport, event, team, or content type. Use clear filenames so you and anyone helping you can find the original. Where available, you can also organize files with People and Groups. You can move files into another library folder with the available move control. Confirm the destination and check that any page using the file still displays it. Before deleting a repeated file, check which pages use each copy. Keep the clearest original and give it a name you can recognize. To find media by tag:
  1. Open the search options beside the Media Library search field.
  2. Choose Tag Search.
  3. Type a tag and press Enter.
  4. Add or remove tags as needed. Results refresh after each change.
Choose Text Search to return to filename and text search. After you upload a file in the website editor, it appears in Recently Uploaded, in the windows where you choose photos or videos, and in the Media Library. You do not need to reload the page.

Find media by date or type

In the website editor Media Library:
  1. Open Filter beside Sort, above the media grid.
  2. Under Date added, enter From, To, or both. Use the same date in both fields to find media added on one day.
  3. Under Type, choose Image, Video, PDF, Font, or Text as needed.
  4. Review the refreshed results. Select Reset to clear the date and type filters.
The date range includes both selected days. It refers to when you added the files to Rocket, not when a photo was taken. The From date must be on or before the To date. If a date is unfinished or the dates are in the wrong order, correct or clear them to update the results.

Select and manage several media items

Open Menu → Media Library to work with several files at once. These actions are not available in the smaller window used to choose a photo for a page.
  1. Select the checkbox on a file to show the available actions.
  2. Use Select all media on this page to select the current page. It does not select the entire library. You can select more items on other pages; the selected count includes those items too.
  3. Open Bulk Actions and choose Move to Folder, Remove from Folder, Download, or Delete. Remove from Folder is available when the selected items can be removed from the current folder.
  4. Choose a folder or confirm the deletion when asked, then check the result message.
Select Cancel selection to uncheck all selected files. Wait for Rocket to finish before opening another folder or page, or changing filters. If some files could not be moved, deleted, or restored, check the message and the files that are still selected before trying again. If the list does not update, select Retry refresh to reload it. You do not need to repeat changes that already worked.

Download selected originals

Select the files you want, then choose Bulk Actions → Download. Rocket puts the original files into one ZIP file and starts the download. A ZIP keeps the files together in a single download. Your files stay selected afterward. A download can include up to 1,000 files, totaling no more than 2 GB. Files linked from another website, missing originals, or files over these limits may be left out. Check the message to see how many files were included or skipped. Select fewer files and try again if the download is too large. Some filenames may change in the ZIP, including when two files have the same name. When you see Download started, check your browser’s downloads to make sure the ZIP has finished saving.

Restore deleted media

Open Recently Deleted in the Media Library, select the files you want to recover, and choose Bulk Actions → Restore. Restored files disappear from Recently Deleted and return to the library. You can also choose Permanently Delete in Recently Deleted. Read the confirmation carefully. You cannot restore those files from this list afterward.

Move a Media Library folder

  1. In the Media Library, find the folder you want to move.
  2. Drag it onto another folder or the drop area for the top level of the library. If dragging is difficult, use the folder’s Move action and choose a destination in the window that opens.
  3. Reopen the destination to confirm the folder, its media, and any subfolders moved together.
Folders at each level appear alphabetically, including after a move or rename. Dragging a folder within the same parent does not set a custom order.

Manage files in the Customer Portal Media Library

The Customer Portal’s Media Library has different controls from Menu → Media Library in the website editor. If it does not appear in your Portal, contact support.

Before changing a shared file

A file’s Caption is also its description for screen readers. Changing it affects every place that uses that media item. Open Used in in the file’s details to check the listed pages before replacing it. If Rocket could not check every location, do not assume the file is unused.

Replace a file or restore an earlier version

  1. Open the file’s preview and Details tab.
  2. Expand Versions and history and select Upload new version, when available.
  3. Choose the replacement and confirm Upload new version.
The replacement appears wherever that media item is used, while its title, caption, tags, and folders stay unchanged. Physical touchscreens may take about 15 minutes to update. Previously copied file links and PDF pages placed individually keep their old content. To bring back an earlier version, select Restore beside it in Versions and history, then confirm Restore version. Use Recently deleted instead to recover a deleted library item.

Upload limits

The current direct-upload limits in the website editor and Portal Media Library are: For a video over the limit, see upload video.

If dragging a file shows an error

Drop the file inside an upload area or use the Upload button. Dropping a file elsewhere in the Customer Portal is blocked so the browser does not navigate away and discard your work. If Rocket says the file cannot be read from its current app, drag it from Finder or use Upload instead.
