Open the page or folder where you want the new content to appear before adding it. A folder that contains other folders or items is called their parent folder.

Create a top-level folder

1

Open the main folders page

From your site editor, go to the page visitors see after they select Explore.
2

Open Settings & Layouts

Use the gear tab in the editing bar on the right.
3

Add the folder

Select Add Content → Folder. Give it a clear public title and choose an appropriate card image or logo.
To create a subfolder, open the intended parent first and repeat the same steps. The site navigation sidebar is the menu on the left side of your site. It starts closed by default, and visitors can open and close it at any time. You cannot permanently hide or disable it. The Site Navigation Default Open toggle controls whether the sidebar starts open or closed. It is off by default. To change it:
  1. Open the main folders page in the site editor—the page after Explore.
  2. Select Settings & Layouts (the gear tab) in the editing bar on the right.
  3. Expand Advanced Options.
  4. Turn on Site Navigation Default Open to start with the sidebar open, or turn it off to start closed. Rocket auto-saves the setting.
To close a sidebar that is already open, select its X button. This setting controls its starting state; it does not remove navigation. The homepage Explore button is a separate control: clearing Start Button Text does not hide the site navigator.

Add a folder introduction or progress note

Use Folder Description to introduce a folder or add a short note such as “More content coming soon.”
  1. Open the folder you want to describe in the site editor.
  2. Select Text & Titles in the editing bar on the right.
  3. Enter your note in Folder Description. Use the formatting controls if needed.
  4. Check the folder preview, then open the public page while signed out to confirm the note appears as intended.
The note describes this folder; it does not change the descriptions on its individual profiles. Its appearance depends on the folder layout. A note does not make an empty or unpublished folder visible. To show an empty published folder, use the setting below.

Show published folders before their content is ready

You can let visitors open published folders that have no published content yet. They will see More content coming soon! until you add and publish content.
  1. In the site editor, open Menu → Site Settings → General.
  2. Turn on Show Published Folders When Empty.
  3. Select Save changes.
  4. Open the public site in a private browser window while signed out. Check the folder and its parent folders.
This setting starts off. Turning it on applies to all existing and future folders on the site, not just the folder you are editing. Turning it off hides folders with no published content again. The setting does not publish anything. Publish the folder and each parent folder separately. Unpublished items stay hidden, and folders named New Folder or Restored Profiles remain excluded from public navigation. Give new folders meaningful names and move recovered profiles into their intended folder. Active filters can still exclude a folder. See missing-content checks if a folder still does not appear. Allow about 15 minutes for a physical touchscreen to update after the web view is correct.

Add content inside a folder

Open the destination folder, then select Settings & Layouts → Add Content. Supported options include:
  • Folder for another level of navigation
  • Person/Team for a biography, team, award recipient, or honoree
  • Record Collection for ranked or measured achievements
  • Championship Banner for championship recognition
  • Photo / Media Gallery for photo or video collections
  • Flip Book for a searchable PDF or image collection
  • Custom for a configured custom content type
Do not mix Person/Team profiles with Record Collections or Championship Banners in the same folder. Put them in separate folders within the same main folder.

Reorder content or move rows between Bulk Edit pages

Custom ordering works the same way for entries of any content type. To set their order:
  1. Open the folder containing the entries.
  2. Open Settings & Layouts in the editing bar on the right.
  3. Under Sort Entries By, choose Custom.
  4. Open Bulk Edit, directly below Add Content.
  5. Drag the rows into the order you want, then review the folder. Rocket auto-saves your changes.
Choosing Custom does not enable dragging in the website editor preview. Drag entries into order inside Bulk Edit. When Bulk Edit has more than one page, you can move selected rows to the previous or next page:
  1. Clear the Bulk Edit search field.
  2. Select the rows on the current page.
  3. Select Move to previous page to place them at the bottom of that page, or Move to next page to place them at the top of that page.
The controls are disabled while a search is active. A next-page move is also disabled when the next page cannot accept the current selection. Rocket keeps the selected rows in the same order and clears the selection after the move. Use the current move control to move an item. Confirm the destination before finishing and use Menu → Change History or undo if the wrong item moves. You can also ask Rocket Assistant to help with this.

Sort profiles by date

  1. Open the folder containing the profiles.
  2. Select Settings & Layouts in the editing bar on the right.
  3. Under Sort Entries By, choose the intended date field. It uses your folder’s label, such as Induction Date.
  4. Use the arrow beside the field to change the sort direction. The highlighted up arrow means ascending (oldest first); the highlighted down arrow means descending (newest first).
  5. Review the folder’s profile order. Rocket auto-saves the setting.
Profiles without a date appear first in oldest-first order and last in newest-first order. Profiles with the same date sort by name. Newly created New Profile entries remain first until you give them names. If you cannot find the date you want, check that you are in the right folder. The date may have a name such as Induction Date or Graduation Year. For a custom order, follow the Bulk Edit steps above. You can also ask Rocket Assistant to help with this.

Choose a folder-card layout

The main folders page can offer layouts such as:
  • Logo Cards for strong, consistent logos
  • Photo Cards for photography-led navigation
  • Photo Cards Fade for photo cards with a text overlay
  • Pill Cards for compact, text-first navigation
  • Icon Cards or Paper Cards when available for the page
Preview real titles and images before applying a layout broadly. Different pages can use different layouts.

Remove diagonal lines from folder cards

Some folder-card layouts place a texture over the card image. Turn off Show Card Texture to remove that overlay.
  1. Open the page displaying the affected cards. For top-level folders, open the main folders page after Explore. For subfolders, open their parent folder.
  2. Select Colors & Styling → Folder Cards in the editing bar on the right.
  3. Turn off Show Card Texture.
  4. Check the cards in the preview, then close the editing bar and review them as a visitor.
The setting applies to the folder cards displayed on that page. Repeat the steps on another parent page if its cards also have the texture. Changing the image crop does not remove this overlay. Lines that are part of the original image remain after you turn the texture off. If the active layout does not use the overlay, changing this setting has no visible effect. If the lines remain and are not in the original image, contact support@rocketalumnisolutions.com with the parent page link, the layout name, and a screenshot.

Can different pages use different backgrounds?

Open a folder’s page-specific Media or Colors controls to change its card image or background where available. Check the card crop in its parent folder and text contrast against a new background. Profiles may share a folder with galleries and Flip Books when the visitor path is clear; keep Record Collections and Championship Banners in neighboring folders.

Set up dropdown filters

Dropdown options come from the profile fields in that folder. Add values to the profiles before expecting those choices in a menu.
  1. Open the folder containing your profiles.
  2. Open Text → Filter Labels in the editing bar on the right.
  3. Name the fields you use: Text 1 Filter, Text 2 Filter, Date 1 Filter, or Date 2 Filter. For example, label a text field Sport and a date field Induction Year.
  4. Open the profiles and fill in the matching text or date fields consistently. Renaming a filter does not fill in this information for you.
  5. With the editing bar open, use the eye/visibility control on a dropdown to show or hide that filter where the layout supports it.
  6. Close the editing panel and test the dropdown as a visitor. Select a value, confirm the matching profiles, and clear the selection to see the full folder again.
Rocket auto-saves. If a menu is missing, check that its label is filled in, profiles have values, the filter is visible, and the folder layout shows filters. See filter consistency for duplicate-looking options.

Keep search and filters visible

The Carousel folder layout shows the filters you have set up, such as sport or year, so visitors can narrow the profiles shown. Set up the profile fields and filter labels using the steps above, then test the folder with the editing panel closed. Clear the selected filters to see all profiles again. If a selection has no matching profiles, clear it or choose another option. Carousel does not add a text-search field. If visitors need to search by typing, choose a folder layout that shows search. Changing the layout does not delete the folder’s content. Review the public folder after switching layouts to confirm that its search, filters, cards, and images match the visitor experience you want.

Earlier video walkthroughs

These videos use an earlier version of the website editor. Follow the written steps on this page for current controls.

Organize a large archive

Organize folders by how visitors search, such as sport, program, decade, year, class, or content type. Avoid making visitors open many folders inside other folders. Clear labels and filters are easier to browse than many nearly identical folders. For help setting up folders and adding a large amount of content for the first time, submit a data-entry request. If a new folder looks empty, confirm that the items inside it are visible. The folder eye icon can hide unfinished folders from visitors while admins continue working. While you are signed in with the editing bar open, you can see unpublished folders and edit those you have access to. When you close the editing bar, those folders are hidden as they would be for visitors, even though you remain signed in. Reopen the editing bar to continue working on an unpublished folder. If a published folder opens directly to its only child or item, check the signed-out navigation shortcuts and layout exceptions.
